Types of Spiders in St. Louis
Brown Recluse
The Brown Recluse is easily identified by the violin-shaped mark on its back. Preferring dark, secluded areas, these spiders often reside in rarely disturbed parts of homes or buildings. Because their bites can trigger severe medical conditions, residents have every reason to be alarmed.
Wolf Spider
You can easily recognize wolf spiders by their large size and quick movements as they roam at ground level. With their excellent eyesight, they skillfully hunt their prey during the night. Unlike other spiders, they do not spin webs and are known for their solitary nature. Their appearance can be daunting due to their size and speed.
Black Widow
Black Widows are known for the distinctive red hourglass shape on their underside. Usually lurking in dim corners that stay nice and warm, these spiders pack a venomous bite that demands immediate treatment from a doctor. Encounters with humans are rare but can be dangerous.
